Hello all,

We hope that you and your families are doing well this new school year! We just wanted to give you all an update on an initiative MSSL has been undertaking as we continue to adapt to changing times. 

Since early September, we have been partnering with the band and orchestra classes at Diablo Vista Middle School in Danville to pair music students with MSSL high schooler members and volunteers. Through this program, high schoolers are able to provide free, one-on-one online music and theory tutoring to their students on a weekly schedule, earning volunteer hours while simultaneously helping to cultivate musical talent in their peers.

If you or someone you know plays an instrument (especially a band or orchestra one!) and would be interested in tutoring and earning volunteer hours, please let them know of this program! You will be paired with a student who plays your instrument at a level that you feel comfortable teaching, and if you are only comfortable teaching piano, you may be able to help the students with music theory. Most likely the students will already have their instrument and music that they want to work on, and if that isn’t the case, we will help to contact the band/orchestra teacher.
