On Sunday, August 18th, 2019, MSSL held our first performance of the 2019-2020 school year at the Creekview Health Center. We had a variety of performances, including piano, violin, flute, and singing. Thank you, as always, to the staff at Creekview Health Center for the opportunity to perform, as well as the performers who attended and did a great job!
From May 1st to May 15th, MSSL partnered with Macy’s Walnut Creek to hold the Round-Up for Rett fundraiser for the Katie Nues Foundation. Thanks to the support of our community, a total of $3,046 was raised in addition to the $5000 from our MSSL and Macy’s 2nd Annual Fashion Show for a grand total of $8,046!

The Music Students Service League is looking for new officers for the 2019-2020 school year.
The available positions are:
To apply as an officer, you must meet these requirements:
- You must be a current MSSL member.
- You must be an incoming 8th grader or older.
- Your current music teacher must be a member of the Contra Costa Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC).
Please take note: As officers, you are not only responsible for your individual leadership roles but you must also fundraise at least $50 for donations to Katie’s Clinic of USCF Benioff Children’s Hospital at least once a year. All officers must be committed to actively attend and participate in performances and fundraisers.

On May 4, 2019, MSSL collaborated with Macy’s at Walnut Creek to host our second annual fashion show in support of the Katie Nues Foundation! The show included a raffle with seven lucky winners, a runway show, fruit and drinks provided by Macy’s, as well as delicious tacos donated by Heritage Eats in Broadway Plaza. We were so glad that Katie Nues, a young lady with Rett Syndrome, were able to join us at this event! We had over two hundred and fifty people RSVP for the event, and even more showed up! Thank you so much to our volunteer models and our MSSL officers for their hard work preparing for this event and for CCMTAC teachers and board members for supporting us! Thanks to everyone’s support and effort, Macy’s donated 5K to the Katie Nues Foundation!

On Sunday, April 14th, 2019, MSSL held a performance at the Sunrise of Pleasanton. We had a variety of performances, including piano, violin, and flute. Thank you, as always, to the staff at the Sunrise of Pleasanton for the opportunity to perform, as well as the performers who attended and did a great job!
On Saturday, February 9th, 2019, MSSL held a performance at the Sunrise Villa San Ramon. We had a variety of performances, including piano, violin, flute, and voice. Thank you to the staff at the Sunrise Villa San Ramon for the opportunity to perform, as well as the performers who attended despite the rain and did a great job!
On Friday, December 21st, 2018, three MSSL officers went to the Walnut Creek campus of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital to meet with Dr. Mary Jones, the director of Katie’s Clinic for Rett Syndrome, Erica Robertson, the Program Coordinator, and Mrs. Nues, the mother of Katie Nues, to deliver a $250 donation from MSSL. A special thanks to former President Serena Wang for accompanying us! MSSL raised funds via community performances and donations from kind community members. MSSL’s donation goes towards bringing back music therapy to the clinic.
On December 16, 2018, MSSL held a performance at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living. In total, we had 13 performers in attendance with a variety of performances! Thank you to all the performers who, as always, did a great job and to the staff at the Reutlinger Community for giving us the opportunity to perform! Without your continued support, we would not have been able to put on such a successful event. We at MSSL would like to wish all a happy holiday season and we look forward to performing with you in 2019!
